Back in the WilderNet - Take 2

Hello, all! We're going to try this again.

Too much has happened for me to put down here just yet. I'm going to wait until I have my own computer, which will hopefully happen in the coming month. Let me just say here that things are not going to my liking, and hopefully they will turn around shortly.

Back in the WilderNet

Hello all! I'm back!

After losing our electricty last July (and finally getting it back on in December), we lost our Internet connection as well. I still have to remedy that problem, which I might this coming month (May). Also, the video card on Tesla died, so I have to go get a new one. I've also got an offer from a fellow Freecycler to do a trade, my electronics for one of his laptops. Sounds good to me!

A whole lot has changed at the house, as well. We've cleaned every room, but there's still a lot of clutter. Our best job was TJ's room. We had it empty for a whole day, before we started putting boxes in it from the other rooms.

I'll tell you more of what's going on in the days to come. I'm just glad I can post again. The library is the best place for me.

What Do I Want To Do With My Life?

Now that I'm 50 years old, I should probably think of something to do with my life that has some meaning to it. Rather than sit here in front of this screen, day after day, going through emails and Facebook, and not much else. I do some writing when the mood strikes, but it hasn't struck of late.

Now, I have an opportunity to learn new ways of doing things. Something called "Social Entrepreneurship". It may work in line with some of my inventions and other ideas. I'll know soon enough. MJ is giving me a $50 Amazon Gift card for my birthday, which I intend to use to purchase the information I need to get started.

We'll see where it goes from there.

Paring down my hobbies

I've begun to pare down my hobbies and activities here on the WilderNet. I should have much better luck working without all those little icons staring me in the face, begging me to look in on them.

This does not mean I'm ending these hobbies. Simply deactivating most of them for the time being. In any case, things are going to be quiet here at my computer, until I get rolling on one of the two books I intend to write before too long.

This blog shall remain open and functional for quite some time into the future. I like writing far too much to take away this avenue.

The BIG 5-0

The BIG 5-0. Fifty. Half a century. How old I am today.

It's been a quiet day. No hoopla, or big birthday surprises. Perhaps tomorrow when I go to MJ's for dessert.

I got a glass carousel horse from my father, yesterday. I didn't know that he knew I collect them. Surprise for me, on both counts. In his card, he told me that he patched things up with Jonathan, my brother. That's good to know.

TJ and I went to see Iron Man 3 on Thursday. I thought it was well done. I won't include any spoilers here.

Now I have peace and quiet for a couple hours at least. Yana and T have gone to take a Mother's Day gift to T's grandmother. Maybe I'll find a movie to watch. Or, perhaps I'll read. I do so little of that any more. I used to enjoy it immensely.

On a day when I should be feeling joy and remembering good times, I am, instead, feeling regret and tiredness. Regret for the things I can no longer do. Regret for the things I no longer enjoy. Tired. Just tired.

Tomorrow will be a better day.

Courage is looking fear right in the eye....

Courage is looking fear right in the eye and saying "Get the hell out of my way, I've got things to do." - Unknown

"I've got things to do." So my quote tonight says. While it looks like one of those things is ~not~ going to be becoming a Master Herbalist (at least not right now), I have many other things I think I may do. I know I'm going to write a book. At least one. Maybe two. One on how not to run a GoFundMe fundraiser. The other one may be an adult sci-fi.

I also want to brew wine. Herbed wine. Maybe herbed mead (honey wine).

I also want to learn how to use two programs to their fullest and best uses. These programs are Scrivener and Evernote. I've got the "for Dummies" books for these programs from my local library, so these should be easy to learn.

So you see "fear" (or resistance, or writer's block, or whatever you are calling yourself to me these days), I have things to do. Get the hell out of my way.

My Next Projects - Part 2

While the monk idea is still bubbling in my brain, other thoughts have also formed there that may prove to be much more useful in the near future. I ~had~ thought to take the monk idea to Second Life, but that would cost money I just don't have right now. Every scrap of money we have or get goes to the running of the house, and keeping the Internet connection up and running.

So, where does that leave me and my ideas for projects? High and dry, at present. The crowd-funding project was a bust, even though I made the requisite $100 for it to go public. I'll try that again in the future, once I have a better idea of what and how I need to run the project. More videos, definitely, and better updates.

Perhaps I'll try putting Dionysia up as a serial blog, posting once a week for however many weeks I can keep the story running. If I do a page a day, I've got enough material to keep it going for at least a month or so, I believe. I can also include author's notes, to explain how things came about and so forth. I have to do a little reading first, of the book called Around the Writer's Block: Using Brain Science to Solve Writer's Resistance , which will help me get past this block I've had for nearly a year now. Well, not so much a year, as I've been able to write ~some~ things, but nothing I'd like to see in print just yet.

So, I have a goal (to write), and a plan (to read the block book), so we'll see how things go from here.
