Writer's Digest first Writer's Prompt for the new year is as follows:
Weekly Writing Prompt
Make a New Year’s resolution list that includes 10 goals. They don’t all have to be writing-related, but at least 3 of them do. Then refer to this post often this year and update it as you complete your goals.
I decided to take it a step further and make it 13 goals for 2013. So, what shall my goals be, hmmm?
1) Lose 25 - 30 pounds by June. I already had this in mind, as I was ordering books from Amazon with the gift card I got from my wife. I ordered The Ultimate Tea Diet: How Tea Can Boost Your Metabolism, Shrink Your Appetite, and Kick-Start Remarkable Weight Loss
along with 20,000 Secrets of Tea: The Most Effective Ways to Benefit from Nature's Healing Herbs
.
2) Rewrite my erotic fiction story from a couple years ago and e-publish it.
3) Outline and begin my non-fiction work on herbs and healing.
4) Read more books. I got a Polaroid Tablet for Christmas from my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I downloaded the Kindle reader to it and started reading some of the ebooks I had already purchased. I need to read much more.
5) Create things that make people feel good. Cordials from Your Kitchen: Easy, Elegant Liqueurs You Can Make & Give
and The Healing Powers of Chocolate
are good places to start.
6) Clean out and re-organize my man-cave. Maybe I can gain a few inches so I can turn my chair around completely without whacking my knees on anything. Tasha keeps threatening to clean it for me, but the last time she did that I lost an entire pile of idea notecards.
7) Plant a container garden on the balcony out front. I want to try Burpee's new container corn seed, and some of their plants, like stevia. I'd also like to grow some plants from this book, The Medicinal Garden: How to Grow and Use Your Own Medicinal Herbs
.
8) Listen to more of the MP3s I have on the Amazon Cloud Player and downloaded to my tablet, Hal-1000. They are all subliminals and will go a long way towards helping me to improve myself in a number of areas.
9) Purchase and get used to using Scrivener [Download]
to see if that helps my writing at all.
10) Enter and begin online classes for Master Herbalist or Holistic Healer. I have this school - http://naturalhealingcollege.com/ - in mind. Now to raise the tuition!
11) Prune my current book collection so I can make room for more. I've got 9 books coming from my gift card orders and no place to put them. Half-Price Books is a good place to get rid of the ones I prune out, and I get money in the process.
12) Read more of the books I get from the library, so they don't just sit and collect dust until they are due each time. I should also make more use of the library's resources in my research for my non-fiction book.
13) Move into a house so everyone has their own room and TJ has room to stretch out and tinker to his heart's content. (New Rule - NO putting the man-cave in the master bedroom!)
Well, that's it, I guess. Now to put it in motion.
Happy New Year, Everyone!
